About Our Breeding Dogs
All of our breeding prospects are AKC Registered and will carry some level of AKC title. Every breeding prospect is also health tested to CHIC, meaning hips, elbows, heart, eyes, and DNA. The overall program goal at Origins is to provide stable, confident, healthy family companions, while continually moving towards proven versatility of working ability, temperament, and correct breed type. As of 2026, I am also adding a genetic diversity test to all prospects to make better breeding decisions regarding their health.
Origins Good Day Sunshine FITS | “Kyra”

RETIRED
Kyra is our foundation female. She gave us three beautiful litters in 2022, 2023, and 2026. She earned the Fit Dogs Silver title, which is part of the AKC Family Dog program, and dabbled in Barn Hunt, but didn’t have the drive necessary to compete in that sport. She is a very people-oriented dog, choosing to sit at the feet of strangers rather than play with other dogs. She has grown up with our three children, is amazing with humans of all ages, and my hope is that in her retirement from breeding that she will go on to do Therapy work with children or seniors. Kyra has a natural marking ability drive to retrieve that she passed on to her pups, and I hope to build on that with her daughter Margot. She has been an amazing family dog and mother, and she will live out her days with us, helping to raised and socialize future generations at Origins.
Origins Wildwood Pearl | “Margot”

PROSPECT
Margot is out of Kyra’s third litter in 2026, by a stud called Beau. She has had a DNA panel and genetic diversity test by UC Davis, but is not quite old enough to finish her OFA health testing yet. In the meantime, I am training her with the Cornerstone Gundog program with the hopes of entering hunt tests in the future. Other goals I have for Margot are to attend a Conformation Assessment event, and to earn other performance and companion titles like AKC Fetch, Rally, and more.
In choosing a future stud for Margot, I will be seeking a male with sport or field titles, good structure, and a genetic diversity test that complements Margot’s.
The Rest Of The Gang…
The dogs that fill out our pack, but don’t contribute to the breeding program –
Piper
Piper is a twelve year old half American Eskimo – half Chihuahua who was my personal dog before I met my husband in 2016. She’s not fond of strangers and so doesn’t typically get to meet our puppy families, but she has been so patient with our own kids and tolerates new dogs we bring in or raise here. She was my first dog as an adult and she is beloved by our family. Piper loves stuffed animals and laying on the back of the couch like a cat.

Ziva
Ziva was a birthday surprise for my husband after we were married, as he grew up with a Boston Terrier and very much wanted another of his own. She is the princess, and he spoils her like a favorite child. Ziva came from a breeder in West Virginia who did not perform health testing, and developed luxating patella – she is one of the reasons health testing has become so important to me and my program. Ziva is the funniest character, and introduces our puppies to dog-dog play. She is OBSESSED with water and fetch.

Boone
Boone came to us from a breeder in South Carolina as a potential stud prospect. While he is so very handsome and has the best personality and is so fun to train and work with, Boone does have a few conformational faults I couldn’t overlook, as well as having two copies of Ichthyosis 1, a history of hip dysplasia in his immediate family, and uveal cysts on his annual eye exam. Combined, these flags caused me to pull Boone from my breeding program before I completed his testing. I continue to earn titles with Boone and intend to complete his OFA hip and elbow exams prior to his neuter.

Ivy
Ivy was out of Kyra’s 2023 litter with a Dock Diving and Therapy dog called Scout. My intentions for Ivy were to compete in sports and become our next breeding female after Kyra. Unfortunately Ivy failed her hip exam and I promptly pulled her from the program. She has full CHIC level health testing and a Fit Dog Bronze title. Ivy is working on some obedience tune-ups this year and will be placed with a family friend sometime this fall or winter, around her third birthday, so that she can get the individual attention she needs with a family who has experience managing dysplasia. His future family hope to train Ivy to be a Therapy Dog.
